“What a nice Karoo surprise”
Reviewed 10 August 2015
We were on our way back from holiday and decided that it was too far to travel all the way home and booked a stop over at the Transkaroo Country Lodge.
The staff were very friendly, the rooms were neat, tidy and clean. We booked a family unit that had more than enough room for our family of four.
The evening we had their buffet dinner which was absolutely divine! Breakfast the next morning was also great. Good homecooked food served with great smiles all round.
They also have a small bar which really makes the best cola tonics! We could not leave without stocking up from their deli.
Next time you need a place to sleep near Britstown you can definitely make your way here!!

The dinner was so delicious and we were so surprised to find such a quaint spot in the middle of what seemed like no where! Such a fresh salad with perfectly cooked medium rare steak - just what we needed on our road trip to Cape Town. Didn't see the rooms, but we were also impressed with the selection of goodies at the store and the desserts looked amazing.

Stopped at Britstown after a long drive and enjoyed a delicious dinner and comfortable night's rest. Friendly staff and clean room. The hotel maintains high standards after over 40 years. Great to find a place like this with the owners still taking care - thank you.

This is my fourth visit .
We absolutely love it. I am a owner of a guesthouse myself...and I know how much effort and planning it takes to give such a good service like this!! From the checking point to the fine dine right through to the rooms...you just can not find anything wrong. Keep in mind this is a Country lodge and come and enjoy it for what it is. The enterior and decor reminds one of a French Hotel in the France Country side...I always stay over...it is affordable and clean and you get a real good nights rest before taking the long road again the next day. Lots of different rooms with different rates. There will be a room for any one's need. I will always recommend the Lodge to any one.

Probably one of the finest country hotels. It's not a rated, chain hotel, so do not expect that, but in the whole of South Africa I'm not sure any establishment will be able to improve in the absolutely magnificent food (Karoo cuisine), or the friendliness of the staff.
We've stayed over many times and it is evident that a lot has been done to upgrade the rioms. It should, however, be noted that it's a county in, and as such should be rated accordingly.
We'll visit again - even only to enjoy the great food.

Dit was regtig 'n baie lekker ondervinding.
Dis 'n baie mooi Lodge. Die kos is regtig iets besonders. Sal Transkaroo definitief aanbeveel. Ons het net een aand daar geslaap, maar wat 'n ondervinding. Die kamer waarin ons geslaap het, se badkamer was nuut oorgedoen. Als was baie mooi skoon en netjies. Tops!
